Hey, I’m Gav.

This is a little space for the things I’m building, ideas I’m exploring, and notes along the way.

Selected Work

A few things in my corner of the internet.

  • Personal Assistant

A local-first app I'm building to manage everyday information, including work records and expenses. I'm also exploring how AI can help me organise and make better use of my own data.

  • LTN Capture

A Markdown-based app I built to capture thoughts, ideas, tasks, and journal entries. It fits my note-taking workflow, with everything saved as plain Markdown files.

  • Gav's Note

My weekly newsletter about personal knowledge management, learning, and thinking. I share ideas from what I read, things I'm experimenting with, and lessons from my own experience.

  • TraderGav.com

My personal trading blog for nearly 20 years. A collection of market observations, trading experiences, and lessons learned, as well as an archive of how my thinking has changed over time.

Selected Writing

A few articles selected from my writing over the years.

  • How I Use AI Better Now

I reviewed how I've been using ChatGPT and noticed a change. I'm asking fewer isolated questions and using AI more within my existing work, from building apps to writing and developing ideas.

  • The Old Rules of Note-Taking Don’t Work Anymore

Traditional note-taking methods still have value, but AI has changed how we collect and connect information. Some thoughts on what remains useful, what needs adjusting, and why revisiting and developing ideas matters more than collecting them.

  • My Dinner Conversation with a New Trader

A conversation over dinner with someone interested in Forex trading. I tried to explain the risks rather than encourage him to get started. Afterwards, I wondered whether I'd been a little too discouraging.
